Erectile dysfunction problems are talked about everywhere. It has separated couples, it takes away confidence and like any other conditions, it has inflicted pain. But what exactly is erectile dysfunction?

According to the medical dictionary, Erectile Dysfunction (ED) also known as Impotence “is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection long enough to engage in sexual intercourse.”

It is important to understand from the onset that men who suffer from ED can 1.) Completely fail to achieve an erection, 2.) Achieve an erection but one that is not hard enough to allow him to penetrate his partner or 3.) Achieve an erection that allows him to penetrate the partner but Rad 140 Testolone Dosage only for a very limited time.

How is erection achieved?

An erection occurs when blood flows into the penis and stays there for a reasonable period of time making it stiff and hard. This happens when the man is sexually exited or when the penis is stimulated. Usually, the arteries (corpora carvenosa) that supply blood to the penis become relaxed, fill with blood and as they expand close off the veins that would have otherwise drained the blood away from the penis. This way blood gets to stay longer in the penis.

It is easy to see that any condition that interferes with the tissues, nerves or blood vessels leading to the penis could easily interfere with an erection.

What causes ED?

The causes of impotence vary hugely depending on age. In young people, the biggest cause is anxiety; fear of having sex for the first time, causing pregnancies, and using condoms being the most notable. In the middle class; stress, obesity, diabetes and alcohol are known predisposing factors though nicotine and guilt also cause the condition. Past the middle age, impotence becomes more common with age due to narrowing of arteries that carry blood to the penis, a condition known as atherosclerosis.

Any other condition that prevents the corpora carvenosa from expanding as desired such as the Peyronie’s disease could also cause impotence. Apart from that, a few blood pressure drugs, tranquilizers, and antidepressants are also known to cause the condition.
